Photographer Shoots Beautiful Women With The Same Skin Condition
In our era of social media obsession, its no wonder people are feeling more and more pressured to look perfect all the time. After all, you never know when you might get tagged in a photo online. But one photographer, Elisabeth Van Aalderen, is trying to change this. Diagnosed with a skin condition called Vitiligo, she is making an effort to show beautiful women who share this “flaw”, and the results are stunning.
Beauty Is Diverse
Vitiligo is a disease in which a lack of melanin leads to white patches forming all over the skin,
Most people with Vitiligo aren’t born with the condition. Van Aalderen only started noticing symptoms around age 25.
A Global Phenomenon
The condition affects 1% of the world population. It affects men and women equally and is more noticeable in people with dark skin.
A Personal Struggle
Speaking about her Vitiligo, the photographer says, “It’s my biggest and most difficult journey of self-acceptance.”
