Coffee And Manners Go Hand In Hand

The following story is about a coffee shop owner who had enough of the way he was being treated daily, so he came up with a brilliant idea to fix that issue… discounts! Seems like it’s working…

He decided to use a pretty simple trick … put up a sign.

Austin Simms, the owner of Cups coffee shop located in Roanoke, Virginia, has put up a sign near the entrance to the shop saying that customers who don’t say “hello” or “please” will have to pay a higher price for their orders.

The sign that went viral! ? #coffee #bepolite #grandinvillage #roanoke

“I decided because I need to solve all of the injustices of the world to start charging more for people who didn’t take the time to say hello and connect and realize we’re all people behind the counter,” Simms told the local news station WDBJ.

If you walk into the shop and simply order a “Small Latte,” then you would be charged $5. If you were to add a “please” that would save you 2$. That’s not it though; if you go even further to greet the barista, all your going to have to pay is $1.75.

In my opinion people should be genuinely polite regardless of any monetary rewards 🙂
