Earth Day 2018
Every year on April 22 we observe Earth Day. It was celebrated for the first time in 1970 and is a day where civic participation and political action is taken with the goal of preserving our planet.
On this day, people march, meet officials, sign petitions, plant trees and clean up their neighborhoods. This special day is led by Earth Day Network, who reports that the increasing amount of growth of plastics is harming the survival of our planet.
April 22nd was chosen to be Earth Day by Gaylord Nelson, who is the founder of Earth Day. The main goal of earth day is to increase awareness of the importance of our planet for the public, especially so for young people.
The organization aims to get governments to make more recycling policies, as well as encourage people to reduce wastage and reuse plastics.
