Happy National Strawberry Day!
Happy National Strawberry Day dear friends! February 27th is the day to celebrate these sweet and juicy red berries.
Strawberries belong to the rose family and are one of the most aromatic fruits, grown in every corner of the Earth, other than the northern and southern frozen reaches.
There are more than 600 types of strawberries and all of them contain high amounts of Vitamin C, folic acid, fiber and potassium. With only 55 calories and no fat per cup of strawberries, these are truly nature’s candy and make for the perfect snack.
If you would like to honor this day and go berry picking, make sure to pick berries that are fully ripe, and not to fill your basket too much since berries are very delicate. Another important thing to remember is to only wash them once you are about to eat them, since washing them can spoil them.
Cool, cloudy days are ideal for strawberry picking and if you pick more than you can handle in one sitting, they freeze well. Another great way to celebrate is to simply eat strawberries, make smoothies, cakes and add it to your every dish today!
