Proof That Tibetan Mastiffs Are Gentle Giants
The history of the Tibetan Mastiff is someone of a mystery. Partially because these huge, fluffy canines are one of the oldest dog breeds out there, but also because Tibet has always been a somewhat isolated country. But one thing that hasn’t gone unnoticed is this breed’s massive size. And thanks to some very kind Instagram users, we get to share in their sweet and often hilarious moments with these massive but gentle giants.
Family Picture Day
The Tibetan Mastiff breed hails not only from Tibet but many neighboring countries such as China and Mongolia, and have been used throughout history to protect the tribes from local wild animals such as wolves and tigers.
The females of this breed can weigh up to 70-120 pounds, while the males come in at a whopping 90-150 pounds.
Man’s Best Friends
Thanks to hundreds of years of selective breeding, these dogs are the perfect family guardian and will keep intruders away by barking loudly through the night. So unless you don’t mind waking your neighbors up, it’s probably best to keep this dog indoors.
